Cry My Hip Gear controller won't work with AR

Hello there guys. This is my first thread. I just have a question that I'm hoping someone out there can answer. I just bought the Action Replay edition for the Cube and was wondering why my Hip Gear controller won't allow me to enter any codes. In fact, once the software loads, the cursor skips down on its own !! When I try to move my analog or digital pad NOTHING works. It's like it isn't even connected. What's up with this ? My Hip Gear controller isn't wireless, it does have turbo functions (which I have turned off) and looks just like the original Nintendo pad that comes with the system when I bought it new. The only difference is that it has an extra long cord (this is why I bought it, I found the one that came with the console too short). Unfortunately, I lent my original control pad to a friend so I can't test the Action Replay software with it. Do you think that the AR software "detects" other controllers and won't let it work ? If anyone knows anything about this, or has had similiar problems with Action Replay, PLEASE RESPOND AND HELP ME. I just bought the cheat disc yesterday and I'm wondering if I need to return it because it could be faulty. It'll be awhile until I'll be able to get my original pad back. Can someone explain this to me ????
