My System

The XBox hard drive is set up in a way to remove the requirement to defrag. It's in NTFS format, with multiple partitions. One partition is just for cache data, which gets deleted whenever you play a new game (so if you notice slowdown in a game, it might be worth stopping, loading up another game for a few seconds, then going back to the first).

The other partitions are for save games and music, and unless your game collection is about the size of the XBox back catalog, and you're regularly making new saves and deleting old ones on most of the games, and you're ripping music, copying it across elsewhere, deleting it, etc. there's no need.

I suppose it could be possible to get the hard drive fragmented after a good decade of constant use, but let's face it, that would be like playing a NES as your main console these days.

I understand there is a zero fill disc you can get which will wipe your hard drive completely which you can get from Microsoft for about $10 (I think), but you'll lose all of your save games, music, Live settings, etc. so it's not really worth it.
