Xbox Live help

recently got a new router for my internet. I was able to connect to xbox live with this, but could not join games, join private chats or join xbox live parties with anybody on my friends list. Somebody suggested that this was because I had strict NAT. So, I fixed this and now I can do everything I would normally be able to do on xbox live. However, there is one person on my friends list that I cannot join parties, chats or games with still. I have always been able to do these things with him before I got my new router. He can join parties and games and chats with everybody on his friends list apart from me. For some reason, it just does not want us two to connect. He says that he has strict NAT and that the thing causing our problem is that I may also have strict NAt, he says that people with strict NAT can only interact with people who have open NAT. I just recently opened my NAt though, so I am pretty sure that this is not the case. Any help in fixing this would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: Xbox Live help

Hello MrCheeseOnToast and welcome to TSF!

It's going to be difficult to assist you in your problem without your friend joining so we can have an open discussion here about the problem, and so we are able to come to a resolution on the problem. Please advise him that we can help him, as long as we can speak with him directly since we need questions about his set up.

Kind Regards,

Steve Homoki

Re: Xbox Live help

How are you so sure that your NAT is open? Since the update from Xbox it does not confirm what your NAT exactly is. I don't know if you play Halo 3 but if you do, have another friend stay in custom lobby, then you say you're going to join him, and exactly when you join him, let him back out to main menu. Your screen will try to find it and can't find it and says ''Your NAT is [......] you can't connect with this person etc.''

Check this out :

Also, you can always go party chat, invite a friend that could connect you both. When at my dads house where my nat is either OPEN or STRICT, i always invite a friend to connect us, works just as fine.
