Xbox 360 connection!!

Hi my friends having a problem with connecting xbox 360 to live.

the problem is this

we live in a block which spreads the net into various rooms therefor to connect to a laptop it has to be connected straight to the wall.the internet needs a password to activate the internet.
i know that the xbox 360 cannot plug straight into the wall and then activate the password, so i need to be able to connect via my laptop which is possible as i do this at home.
so i connect the laptop to xbox and connection share to get xbox live.
ok its the last part of how to connect the laptop to the wall as the only ethernet cable is taken up via the xbox 360. will it work if i get either a router to possibly make a wireless network or maybe a ethernet splitter to plug into my laptop and then connect both ethernets to my laptop? please help my mates doing me head in tryin to sort it lol

thanks for any help

Re: Xbox 360 connection!!

Hello Stato87 and welcome to TSF!

Is it a ethernet wall jack? If it is so, and you have two ethernet ports on your laptop proceed below.
What you will need to do is enable ICS from the port on your laptop that is connected to the wall (It may say Local Area Connection1). You right click to properties then click on the sharing tab. Check the appropiate boxes and you should be able to click on the pull down tab and click on the local area connection that your xbox is connected to. The accept changes.

You will need a crossover cable coming from your laptop to your xbox. This is relatively cheap.

Re: Xbox 360 connection!!

If you have a PCMCIA slot you can try a pci-card with an ethernet adapter. Most laptops carry a pci-express slot for further usability.
I found this one that may be compatible with your laptop, if your not sure please post your laptop make and model I can find out for you.
