Re: Xbox360 Help
I think you need a cross-over cable from your pc to your xbox that way it's routed from the pc to the xbox. You need to have your internet connections shared.

Re: Xbox360 Help
Ok, if I understand you correctly you have
1. a USB drive connected to your pc with a G network which is basically dialing out to get internet. 2. An ethernet cord from your pc to your xbox. 3. A router. 1. If this is so, then what you will need is a cat-5(ethernet) cross-over cable coming from your pc to your router(Port 1 or Incoming). You can't use a standard ethernet cable because you need to direct the network to your router from your PC. 2. Plug a standard ethernet cable from your router to your xbox. 3. Once you have that cable, you need to set your usb adapter to "share connection" with the local area connection that The cross-over cable is connected to. For example, on your network connections windows you will see a local area connection sometimes followed by a number. If you go to the share properties of your usb adapter, you should see a drop down box of where to share it to. You can test the connection by going to network set up on the xbox 360 and test xbox live connection. Sources: I had to do this myself not too long ago. Re: Xbox360 Help
Ok when i go to the properties of my LAN connection it only gives me the option to change the firewall settings and nothing on sharing. My ethernet cable is a fastcat 5E patch cable is that not the right one. Another thing is i get my internet free from who ever has wireless routers in my neighborhood i have a wireless LAN monitor thats plugged in to my USB port

Re: Xbox360 Help
Ok Danny, what you need to do is enable ICS. Go to the sharing properties of your wireless network adapter. We need to share the wireless internet connection to the lan connection. It should be located in the same window where you accessed the properties of your lan connection.
And I'm afraid that's not the correct cable Danny, it's the same set up as people who have xbox live through a laptop. You can purchase your cable with just a few dollars at www.ebay.com and that includes shipping. Again, it is called a cross-over Ethernet cable. Or you can access your local computer shop and purchase the cable there.

Re: Xbox360 Help
Ok i got the right cable now but my Xbox still wont find my pc. I tried to enable my ICS but it does not give me the option in the properties menu and i cant figure out why. I have tried running the network setup wizard and it always finishes but says (An error occurred during the configuration of the network on this computer) so i dont know what to do to fix it

Re: Xbox360 Help
Have you tried shutting down all systems including the modem by unplugging it? Then letting the router boot up fully, then your computer, then your xbox?
Also, if you have a router, why route your Xbox through your computer and not directly from the router? Last edited by Rataru101; 10-19-2009 at 09:46 PM. |
