sony psp bad motherboard question

okay, i currently have v 6.0 ofw on my psp. However, I am looking to get custom firmware. I currently have a 2001 slim psp. It is black, and came with the 1200 mAh s110 battery. I tried modding the battery and making a magic memory stick with no sucess. Is this because my psp cannot be modded or is it because the battery is mod proof. Do I have the evil motherboard that is immune to pandora's battery hacking? Oh, i dont know what firmware it came with, I bought it used. Also, I have two batteries, one pandora modded and one not. I cannot use the program to find out the psp motherboard type because it recquires a homebrew enabled psp to work. I dont have one.
