Question Some XBOX 360 Questions...

Hi,

I have an Xbox 360 system connected to my HD-TV, I run the game at 1080i graphic but was wondering which graphic cable is better to use.

I have a component lead (HD) which came with the Xbox 360 and the graphics are good so far as I know.

There is a slot for an HDMI cable, which I have one spare I could connect to. I haven't switched because I have the sound part of the component lead connected to my stereo and I cannot do this whilst having a HDMI cable connected can I? (I don't have an optical port in my stereo for deffo or tv [I don't think]).

Also, I had an Xbox 360 which started freezing, showed one red light, then the 3 red rings of death. Is there anyway to fix it so I can sell it on...

Thanks,

Re: Some XBOX 360 Questions...

You can have hdmi and hdtv plugged in at the same time you just need to open the hdtv connector to remove some of the excess plastic blocking the way of the hdmi.

As for your three red lights problem, the first thing I need to know is have you already opened it. If not, you haven't voided your warranty. You can send your xbox 360 to microsoft for a free replacement or repair.

But if you already voided your warranty by opening it. Then you are left with a couple of fix it up yourself techniques I can explain to you.

It was past warranty (I had it over a year and a half I think) anyway so I tried to open it but didn't have the right tool (I only broke the tab behind the front case). What methods would you recommend to get it sorted, I appreciated any help whatsoever

If it can be fixed then I would be very happy

Also, if I plugged them both it would it have any effect on the graphics?

Re: Some XBOX 360 Questions...

No it wouldn't effect any graphics. And btw, Microsoft extended the red ring of death warranty for three years. You can check to see if yours is still covered by going to http://support.xbox.com/support/en/u...?step=register
You may see a box that says the standard warranty is expired, but if you click on current warranty status it will say a three year warranty applies.

But if your still it's out of warranty, then lets proceed.
You'll need two tools.
1.A torx 10 screwdriver because the screws are not standard philips which you should be able to find at any general hardware store.

2. An xbox 360 case opening tool or you can utilize multiple small flathead precision screw drivers but It may be more trickier. You may be able to custom make one as well.

Here is the exact details on how to do it. If I could say it better on how to do it, I would but this site really has a good tutorial on how to do it and has pictures as well!

Let me know if you need further assistance once we get past opening it.
But you will need at least that torx 10 screwdriver.

Thanks for the info, is the warranty lost if the sticker has been removed under the faceplate???

If not I will remove the case and try and fix it

Re: Some XBOX 360 Questions...

Yeah sorry, if the sticker is gone so is your warranty. Keep me posted on your results, I've only worked on drive issues with various xbox 360's but soon I will work with a 3 red ring version.
