360 generally runs slower...
My 360 has always been a bit slower than others. I can tell from watching videos on the internet and comparing, and from playing the game. The frame rates just seem to randomly drop sometimes. No, it isn't the disc, this is a universal for all my games. Yes, I have cleared the cache. Even when I had rrod, i sent it to MS, they sent it back, still the same issue. Only thing i have noticed with SOME games is if the 360 has been running a while, they tend to start moving a little faster. ANyone know what the problem could be? I dust it every week. People say it could be Input Lag but I don't know how to turn that off. I am playing on a 32 inch LCD 720P HDTV. I have also closed some ports someone told me I didn't need open. (said it could be internet related). My ps3 runs the same games faster, and if I compare a video of GTA4 for example from youtube to my 360, the youtube one looks wayyyyyy smoother.

Re: 360 generally runs slower...
Well lets narrow this down from a network issue and a hardware issue.
Does it run slower only when your playing xbox live? If yes, post your network set up. If no, have you tried playing it on a different tv or different display settings? Also, when you open your xbox look underneath the aluminum slab right over the heatsinks. Do you clearly see a burn mark? If yes, the problem lies in the xbox overheating even if you think it's not. |

Re: 360 generally runs slower...
Yes it will void your warranty, so don't do it! I thought when you ment that when you dusted it every week you literally opened it to remove the dust. Now I know the dust just settles in. Any repair will cost you $100 by keeping that refurbished sticker Microsoft sent you back, no more free repairs =/
Ok, well I can already tell you two things wrong with that. 1. It's DSL so it's not as fast as cable which most gamers employ those companies. This will give you a cheaper connection by default. 2. It's hooked up to a router which others can have access to the internet with while you are playing your game. This can cause lag to any connection. So this is what you do to achieve the best connection possible. 1. Ensure no one else is accessing the internet while you are playing 2. Or get a better connection. |

Re: 360 generally runs slower...
No you don't have to turn it off, just disable your internet connection. But if you want to be green and save some watts while your xbox is running then yes, go ahead and turn it off.
