Xbox live disconnecting every hour/1/2 hour?

Hi, I'm having a really frustrating problem playing on XBL. I moved to a new apartment a month ago, and I'm using Comcast cable internet. It's on the 2nd floor, so I use a Belkin N+ router to connect wirelessly to my laptop, and my desktop which is downstairs..as well as my xbox 360. Now, I connect to XBL through my desktop using ICS.

My problem..and this has only started in the last 2 weeks (it was fine for 2 weeks before), is that I keep getting disconnected from XBL..right in the middle of a game, at the same time every hour. It will be either, for example, 5:00PM on the dot...or 5:30PM on the dot, throughout the day. Every hour...bang, disconnected.

I'm not sure what to do?

Perhaps try contacting Comcast and see if they are resetting your connection every half hour? Or, go into your router and check to see if there are any settings that reset every half hour, if you want to do this we need to know your make and model of your router.

ICS is hardly the best way to connect it. Shelling for the USB adapter may give somewhat better results.

I did contact Comcast, and they said everything is fine on their end...they suggested the router. I have a Belkin G+ Mimi router...the part number on their website is # F5D9231-4. I couldn't find any settings that reset though..unless I just missed it.

ICS is really my only option? I have the 360 wireless adapter..but the problem is that for some reason, where the 360 is..it picks up no signal whatsoever from my router.

Have you set the 360 to wireless?

It's connected to my PC through an ethernet cable...I could not get the adapter to work at all. The wireless settings were just grayed out..couldn't even edit it. I gave up..Just more wasted money on junk.

The problem is the junk router. For some reason, it decides to completely disconnect everything for like 5 seconds every half hour...and apparently no one else has ever had this problem, and there is no solution for it, except shell out more money for a new piece of junk.

Maybe there are too many things connected to it for it to handle?

hey, i have the same problem, i have a ZiXel router. very very annoying problem...

I figured it out a while ago, I had to save the settings..and reset the router. Worked fine, then a week later did it again...so I reset it, yet again. And it's been fine since. Mine is a Belkin, but I imagine doing the same for yours would work too.
