weird sound from ps3

hello guys i got a situation every 15 to 30 min i get a 1 second noise. the noise is kinda like the sound of a scratched dvd playing kinda like a glitch sound but it also occurs even though i dont play. i bought this ps3 about 3 weeks ago and i dont know if this is normal or not ? heres the sound that i recorded http://xleech.xl.funpic.org/ps3/ps3.wmv

I've not heard a PS3 nor other console make that noise before, but it may be your hard drive scratching - failing, (even though it didn't sound like when i heard my sisters hdd scratching (only heard one failing so far) ), is it still under Sony's 1 year Warranty that you receive when you purchase the console ?

If so, give Sony a call and they will tell you what you must do, and they will ship it back to you fixes/or new for no cost. Depends what they want to do.

You also get to ship it to Sony for free as they give you a sticker to slap onto the box that's already paid for.
