dreamcast display problem

I recently bought this dreamcast, and I scanned for a signal on my lcd tv and all of the 'white' colours had been replaced with black, and there was a loud buzzing whenever text appeared on the screen. I then tried the dreamcast on a crt tv and the picture was surprisingly fine for about five minutes, before reverting to the black-ish screen found on my lcd.
I have done a lot of searching for this kind of problem on the internet and found only one, which didnt have a solution, so please help.
thanks.

Re: dreamcast display problem

Hello and welcome to TSF.

What kind of cable did you use to connect to the TV? You most likely need an RGB (Red White Yellow) cable to connect to a picturetube television.
I think just the sheer age of the Dreamcast meant that you bought an already dead system.
