Whoever helps me figure this out is a GOD

Ok My halo maps will not load. My xbox hard drive says that the maps are on the hardrive BUT I can not load them in matchmaking or custom games. The only way I can load them is if i re-download every single map pack each time I turn on Halo 3, even if I exit halo 3 to go to the dashboard. Customer support has made me update my xbox, transfer licenses, and re download everything a gazillion times and nothing works. I had my xbox repaired for the red ring of death about two months ago and xbox tells me it is the SAME xbox I sent in for repair but the maps say they are registered to a different xbox console. Can anyone out there help me?
And if you want to be really nice I am having the same trouble with my call of duty 4 map pack. But I don't care as much about those
please help me

Sounds like a failling hard drive, something is corrupt and things are not saving correctly, your best bet is to buy an entirely new Xbox. You should check to see you have enough space for the maps though.

He does not need to buy a new Xbox as his 360 has a removable HDD. He could try his friends HDD and load his gamertag there and see if the maps load properly. If that does work craigslist a new HDD and you can just load your profile onto that.

I did not know Xbox 360's had removable Hard Drives, my mistake, I do not recommend buying an HDD off of Craigslist because it could be faulty, loaded with malware, or stolen. Ebay would be a safer bet but usually Microsoft can supply you with that kind of stuff.
If a friends HDD does not solve the problem, then you should try uploading all your information to a USB Drive and get a new Xbox as the data or power cables could be faulty or the HDD itself.

actually the 360s HDDs are proprietary so really a null chance of malware and more chances than naught most sellers will show you its working because of the prices they sell it at. But yeah he could also, like you said, ebay or go to M$ for it.

you corrupted your hard drive by shutting it off when you weren't supposed to.

Re: Whoever helps me figure this out is a GOD

I have the solution. Trust me, it sounds stupid, it makes no sense at all, but it works. This is what we had to do on my friend's console when he had this issue.

Delete the maps off of your hard drive.
Clear your cache.
Recover your gamertag from xbox live (MUST BE DONE).
Re-download your maps.

Now they should work. Good luck.

Edit: well I just read your ENTIRE post lol, this may or may not fix the problem then since yours is more complex.

I believe the way to clear your cache is to hold the A button while either the system is starting or the game is starting.

Grin Re: Whoever helps me figure this out is a GOD

so guys, I have tried everything that everyone has suggested and my maps still don't work. I am pretty convinced that when I sent my Xbox in for repair they just replaced it with a new model. Because otherwise all of those resets and such should have worked, if it was the same console. Customer support is rather useless, but I did figure out a way to play my maps, by downloading them again everything I want to play them. But oh well, atleast I CAN play them. Thanks for the help. If anyone else has ideas let me know!
