PS3 in japanese

Hi there

I purchased a PS3 from ebay ( a brand new unit from a seller in Australia that said it could play all region games). On set up we got an option to choose a language, so chose english. We played a game for a few hours, but the next day when we put in another game it would not load and said something about the wrong video output. We tried again and now all the instructions are in japanese. We've tried turning it on and off with different methods, but it just keeps coming up in Japanese. Can anyone help please, as it was a birthday gift for my wife.

So the PS3 just starts up normally but the only problem is that everything is in Japanese, correct?
