Ingrediants: Xbox, Linksys. Makes: Confusion (Serves One)
Okay, Here is what I have + need to know:
I have one Xbox 360, that's it, not wireless converter or anything. One working Linksys WRT61ON V1 wireless router. (Xbox=in basement, router= 3rd floor, so i have a wireless extender) From here i need to know what i need to buy, how much it will cost, the connectivity of my extended range, and then how to set it up. Assume you are talking to a noob with all things wireless, because, well, you are.

All right, i read it over, and it makes no sense. My Goal: To have my Xbox be connected to Xbox Live. I have heard of a wireless converter for the Xbox? I just don't want to make a mistake.

Umm. Well, you really don't need a converter. If you have internet via a computer in your room, there is a plug in the back of all computers that will accept the chord that came with the 360. Looks like a phone chord. If you do this, you simply need to configure your router settings to be unprotected so the xbox can have access to your computer. From that point, it will just use your internet via your computer. Unfortunately, you can't even put the computer in sleep mode in order to maintain connection. In my opinion, this is the cheapest, most effective way to connect to the internet, but it's reliant upon having the wireless router's range able to reach far enough.
