This just started happening to where my PS3 won't load/start up PS 3 games--it plays Blu Ray movies (and DVD's) totally fine but when I load a game, it initially recognizes it and then it looks like its going to load it, but the little spinning disc never appears and the screen stays dark. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT MY PS3 IS BARELY A YR OLD AND I DONT WANT TO SPEN $400 ON ANOTHER ONE

Re: Playstation 3
Try using a Optical Drive Cleaner disc.
also do you have your PS3 vertical? u should lay it down flat. Do you have warranty? if not, and its the laser that seams to have gone, im sure you can find a wholesaler selling brand new PS3 lasers for your drive(on Ebay). i had a bunch of problems with my lasers on my Xbox360. i have replaced it twice now, each one lasting about a year. However, make sure you have NO warranty before reverting to replacing your laser. because you will lose it, if you do. |

Re: Playstation 3
Hey,
I had this problem with one of my PS3. Sent it to PS3 Repair they fixed the Laser Lens for $130. I sent my ps3 to sony first; they told me they would fix it for $150 because it was out of warranty, but then I got a call saying that because of the Dust they would not offer me any type of warranty on the fix, so I told them to screw off and send it back. Found this site and they were great. Recommend them to anyone. If you can fix it yourself, you can buy just the laser and try to repair it, but I'm not that handy. How can Sony void a warranty because of dust??? What TV, DVD or game machine doesn't have dust in it? Last edited by Tiber Septim; 04-17-2009 at 08:19 PM. Reason: Removed Link. |

Re: Playstation 3
Yup, with Hircine late it down flat first.
But, that probably won't work, so, I guess it is the laser. 1. Lay it down. 2. Clean the disc. 3. Clean the PS3, lightly. 4. Not working? It's the laser. Friend had the same problem. |

Re: Playstation 3
This just happened to my school friend, and he decided to open it up and fix it. He fixed it, but a day later it messed up again, and Sony has refused to fix it because it will void the warranty. Whatever you do, do not open it, call Sony and they will repair it for free, I've seen this happen to my friend 3 times, they send him the box, and 2 weeks later he has a new / fixed PS3.
