OK so my NES was giving me flashing screen/red light. After searching the internet I found out about fixing the 72 pin connector. I did this but I still got the flashing screen/red light. Then I found a guide on how to clean a NES using glass cleaner. I followed the guide thoroughly and then dried the system and let it sit for about a half hour. I reassembled the system and plugged it in. I was when I had just spent 2 days attempting to fix my NES and still getting the flashing screen/red light. Then I smelt smoke and panically unplugged the system. When the smell was no longer present I plugged the system in only to find that there was no power at all this time. I am afraid that I have killed my NES
. If there is anyway to fix this please tell me. But I probably fried the mother board. *weeps over dead NES*

Re: I think I killed my NES :(
Hi icemirrors18, welcome to TSF.
I can't believe people still play the old NES, I have a lot of fond memories of that system. From the sounds of it, I'd say it's fried. If you feel capable, try opening it up and see if you can see any blackened areas on the motherboard or anything that looks busted (capacitors). You may be able to replace the part if it isn't the motherboard, but honestly it'd probably just be cheaper to buy a whole new NES. |

But still, I'd just scrap the current one and get yourself a used one. Good luck. |
