Ps2 Problems

Hey guys first post...

I recently took a Ps2 apart because it wasn't reading discs. I cleaned the laser and bam it kind of worked. When I put a game in the system would recognize the disc but when I tried to play it wouldn't get past the first screen where it says "Playstation 2". Any ideas? Think the laser is just going bad? Thanks

Re: Ps2 Problems

Either the laser is getting bad again or the disc is messed up, Try cleaning the disc.

Re: Ps2 Problems

Hi, Rome686.

That would not be a laser problem. Typical laser issues result in not being able to even boot up the game (meaning it wouldn't even show the "Playstation 2" Logo at the beginning) but instead delays boot up or doesn't boot up at all.

I'd suggest either getting a new laser or just biting the bullet and buying a used PS2 for $30 at your local game shop.

Also, if you don't know what you're doing (as I'm sure you didn't) do not take apart or mod a game system as you probably accidentally touched the laser or possible some static from your fingers got into the mainboard and fried a important part.

Good luck.
