Angry capture card crashes laptop (trying to record xbox 360)

not sure if this is the right forum for this post but i will go on anyway...
hello there,
i have a dell xps m1530 with vista and a haupauge hd pvr capture card, i like to record some gameplay from xbox360 and record tv occaisonally but the problem is everytime i connect my capture card to the laptop it freezes apart from the mouse which i can still move but when i click the mouse it will come up with a loud beep, which will restart to repeat, the only way i get around this is to take battery pack out and in and restart the laptop but it has about a 75% chance it will happen straight away, if i am lucky it might not crash even at first it might not crash but then during recording it could randomly crash without warning and randomly, not always but most probably this will happen, it is very frustrating and i have lost my patince with with problem, i record HD footage and use the capture module which came with capture card, i have looked around and cant seem to get an answer, please help. many thanks
lee

Make sure you have the latest drivers for the capture card, and the capture card can accept the frequency the Xbox is sending out.

PAL, NTSC ect...
