HDMI and PS3 issue: sound but not image?

ive got a problem with my ps3 and im worried about it, what happens is that
i bought an HDMI cable for my ps3 but when i connect it to the TV it only appears the audio but not the image, i mean i can just hear but not see anything, so i wanna know how can i solve this problem.

Does you TV support the resolution that cable is outputting?

It might be worth trying to connect again through scart and seeing if that brings the picture back. If it does shut down the PS3 and reconnect the HDMI cable, the PS3 should recognise this and act accordingly.

Did you try the "hard reset" I believe it is called. Turn on the ps3, hold down the power button. Will beep a few times and then shut off. Do this one more time. After a series of beeps, turns off again. Then turn it on as normal, should fix it. Any time I transfer my PS3 from one tv to another I have this problem. Must be common.

Yup, although, for me, I have to switch channels.
Skip through your 'Other' channels - not the standard programme channels, if you know what I mean.

Audio plays across, say, channels a3, a4 and a5.
Image, a3 may show scart while a5 shows HDMI.

I seriously think it's the channels. Check the settings on your TV, I remember that sometimes you have to allocate certain 'Other' channels to display images and play sound.
