[SOLVED] PSP Disk Problem

Hey everyone. I have i bit of a weird problem. My friends PSP is somehow busted though not knowing why. He did crush it under his futon bed. Not really crushed but did crack the CD cover a bit. There is a slight dent, but the game disks insert and eject properly. The problem is that no disks are being read at all. Everything works fine but not the disks. I believe it is the laser but not sure. Please post any ideas and Thanks.

Re: PSP Disk Problem

Can the disc inside the UMD casing spin freely?

Try cleaning the laser with a dry cotton swab
If it's still not working, try it with rubbing alcohol.

If that fails, contact Sony to see if it's still covered by a Warranty.

If the cost of a repair is greater than a new PSP, you'll know what to do at that point.

Re: PSP Disk Problem

Ok thanks. Also this is the first PSP (1st Gen) and was bought when it came out so the warranty expired already as far as i know. But yes the disk does spin but does not load and just freezes the entire system. Spinning disk, no results.

Re: PSP Disk Problem

Nope the disk is flawless. Only the case has a few very minor scratches.
