Problem with jagged lines/backgrounds in PS3 Games...

I've been noticing very poor lines in all the games I play. Things like shadows, backgrounds, outlines all have moving/jagged lines. I also noticed that there random moments when parts of the game get blurry and degraded. Mostly in the background or when I'm moving a game camera around and then suddenly stop. I have to play with the camera to get it in focus. I tried calling the Sony customer service but they don't seem to understand or know jack. Could there be something wrong with my PS3? Or could it be my TV. I have a 42 inch LG 720p with 1080i hooked up with an HDMI cable. If anyone with more knowledge than the sony customer service people can help me. I'd appreciate it.

Re: Problem with jagged lines/backgrounds in PS3 Games...

If you just said you had 1080i enabled on you PS3, while using a 720 tv, then that is the problem. Go to the tab on the PS3 about resolutions and change it to 720.

Re: Problem with jagged lines/backgrounds in PS3 Games...

hey gerrigen, yea i do have it set at 720p. you mentioned in my other post that it could be the lens and getting it cleaned. could it be damaged? i did notice recently that one of my games was freezing up at the same spot. I looked at the disc and noticed it had a crack in it. could that had damaged the bluray lens?

I snapped a shot of mgs4. it's a crappy picture but i pointed where you can seeing the jagged lines.

Re: Problem with jagged lines/backgrounds in PS3 Games...

I get those on CoD 4 all the time. It is just poor design honestly. But it never hurts to get a drive cleaner. I don't think that the disk would have hurt the lens though. But if those are the only jagged lines it is simply a side affect of low definition. When I play on my big screen HD TV there are no blurry lines. When I play on my tv with low definition I have what you have.
