Xbox 360 Streaming, not showing anything but .wmv videos
So ive recently upgraded the media 'server' machine with some new hardware and put windows 7 on it. setup the media library, got the xbox to see it, all my folders are there. great, until i whent to watch a movie, and realized ONLY .wmv files are showing up.
Now from what ive read it seems like using WMP11 [im actually using some varaition there of due to the windows 7 os, but it is basically WMP11 with a new UI] wont show anything but .wmv files to the xbox 360. but using Windows media connect on XP doesnt filter any files at all [this is how i had it setup previously] so after 3 days of working on it and still coming up stumped i come the you all for advice. here are my 3 current solutions that im working on. 1)figure out how to get the 360 to see the non .wmv media 2)convert all video to WMV. i have no clue what software to use, since it needs to convert to HD WMV and support batch converting. 3)install XP via Virtual machine and then share the media via windows media connect. the issue im running into on this front is accessing the Host OS's local drives in the guest OS, so that they may be shared from XP. ---------------------------------- Specs on the 'server' machine: Mobo: ECS A770M-A [AM2] Processor: Sempron LE1250 Ram: 4x1GB Wintec Amp0 DDR2 GFX: nvidia 8400GS Gigabit ethernet everything is hardwired, all other machines on the network can see the entire video library and play it [well after codecs are installed] so it seems to be an issue with the 360 it self, but the only thing that has changed is the OS/Hardware on the serving machine, so im very much stumped.

Re: Xbox 360 Streaming, not showing anything but .wmv videos
Have you tried using a Vista version of Orb to stream all files to your xbox? If you have the version of 7 I think you do, it is a vista based pre-beta. It might work, it might not. Thats the bug bear of betas.
It should stream all files with Orb through Vista or XP though. Alternatively, burn all the stuff to a rewritable dvd and pop it in the xbox.

Re: Xbox 360 Streaming, not showing anything but .wmv videos
Ive got orb/winamp remote working, but it doesnt truly stream the media, the xbox buffers it, and it takes a while to buffer 1080P bluray rips.
and using dvd's is 100% of out the question, since 80% of my media uis 1080P and over 7GB per file/video its just not feasible, plus the quality would degrade. and its build 6801 of windows 7
