Xbox 360 Help!! Red Ring Of Death For The Fourth Time On My Fourth Brand New Console!

so i got an xbox 360 about 2 1/2 years ago
and it has red ring of deathed on me 4 times
i have called the number talked to them and sent it in and they have always sent me back a brand new console
the crappy thing about it tho is that that new console dies the same way only a few months later
so i am on my fourth xbox 360 that they sent me and it died
now i am pissed off and want to know if i can bargain with the people on the 18004myxbox phone number to either get a 400$ refund or make them send me and ELITE!! i have had friends who had the same problem as i have but there parents just bought them an ELITE just because they got annoyed. now my mom isnt gonna do that. it is either get and elite via trade in or get a refund

sooooo does anyone know what my mom could us on the tellophone to help bargain with the people?????

and is an ELITE really not going to die on me?????

Re: Xbox 360 Help!! Red Ring Of Death For The Fourth Time On My Fourth Brand New Cons

I've found Microsoft to be pretty understanding from what I understand. I personally haven't had the Red Ring issue yet (I'm still expecting it to happen), but from what I've heard they are extremely polite regarding the issue. Given how often it has happened in such a short span of time, it might be a possibility to get an elite. Obviously I don't know their policies, but when you call them, I'd recommend making sure they know you're upset (without being rude, I work at a call center and being rude isn't going to help). If the person you speak with can't help, I recommend asking to speak with their supervisor.

Re: Xbox 360 Help!! Red Ring Of Death For The Fourth Time On My Fourth Brand New Cons

sooo ya
i had my mom call
and she was insturcted to wait 48 hours for a supervisor to call back
so the supervisor called back
and he said that microsoft will continue to send another regualr 360 as long as i keep getting the red ring of death
so no elite but the supervisor is hooking us up with priority shipping
they were very nice and understanding but they just have rules i guess but i am glad to hear that they will continue to fix/send new 360s as long as the problem exists
soooo no elite but a lifetime supply of new 360s if mine keeps breaking
:D

Why in the world would they upgrade you when you have a tendency to break yours? If this has happened four times it is probably user error sorry to say.

Try cooling your room down. My friend's 360 heats up the whole room and we have to open a window or it flashes red. "Dude, you got to get one of these!"

Maybe Microsoft should stop putting hot CPUs into small plastic enclosures.

On a side note, I do recall hearing that if you put an intercooler on your 360, it voids the warrenty. Just wanted to let you guys know, for those of you that still have your 360 covered.

I think the running off a separate power adapter is important as you've indicated. I bought a cooler for my kid's 360 and when we got the red ring of death, it turned out the cooler wasn't connecting to the back of the box good enough causing the red ring of death. Removing it cleared the problem.

Now unfortunately that familiar red ring has come back to haunt us and this time Microsoft is sending me a UPS shipping box/lable to send ours back for repair/replacement.

BTW when going online to register your xbox for repair, in the address field don't use hyphens. It seems it's an invalid character despite the fact that that field was populated from my user profile which did use a hyphen in my address and was accepted in that field.

So does anyone really know what's causing this popular fail? Apparently it's a hardware fail as MS indicates, but what?

Something as little as dust buildup, or perhaps intolerance to some levels of moisture.

My August 2006 finally got the RROD a few months ago. MS sent me a new one and it's worked perfectly since. How is the 360 setup? Is it laying flat or on its side? Is it in a cabinet? Is the room relatively cool?

I think the best thing for a 360 is for it to be in an open situation like shel with the back and front open so it can get the best air circulation

Another good tip is to go buy those small rubber feet from your local hardware store and place four on the bottom. It drastically reduces vibration noise and allows more air circulation.

Does it have the falcon chip? If not, buy one and install it.

You can't really install a Falcon chip since is a BGA socket. If you know how to do that kind of work and are up to the task then it's just a matter of finding one.

Re: Xbox 360 Help!! Red Ring Of Death For The Fourth Time On My Fourth Brand New Cons

i fully understand what ur going through lol ive had 4 xboxs in 3months, ands its for my sons xmas. just put the games in, 5mins later, red ring. total joke. but saying that the store has no issue replacing the 3 red rings, but its just totally inconvient, especially cos u pay nearly £180 for the thing.
so is more ventiliation the key to prevent the RROD???
