Console to Monitor - tuner card or vga box?
I have an old Playstation 2 that I'm looking to connect to my LCD monitor. I've poked around a little bit and figured out that their are basically two ways of going about this, the first being to connect directly to the monitor using a "vga box" like this one (which seems to offer about the best video quality I could find for a decent price):
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...nnorswebguidec The other way I know of is to connect through the PC using a TV tuner card, but I've heard that the problem there is lag. I don't know if that's just a natural side of effect of using a TV tuner or if it can be overcome with a fast enough computer, but just in case, I'm running an AMD X2 3800+ with 2GB of memory and a GeForce 8800GT 512MB. So, my question is, which method is preferable (and if you recommend the tuner, any particular do's and don'ts with regard to brand?) |

Re: Console to Monitor - tuner card or vga box?
I personally haven't done this before, but I would recommend the VGA box.
The lag with the Tuner card would appear, regardless of computer specifications (Atleast I think it will) cause the signal is passing through and getting processed by the computer compared to passing directly to the monitor. Just my opinion, may well be wrong
