PS3 connected to my Dell LCD but no sound.

I have a PS3 which is connected to my Dell 22in E228WFP WIDESCREEN via a DVI connection, the picture comes up but there is no sound. How do I get sound? Someone please help me.

err well its not exactly help but i had the same trouble connecting my pc through a dvi-i cable to an lg 42ly75.

turns out it couldnt handle both for some reason and a seperate cable had to be run to carry sound, but this also didnt work (faulty connection inside tv).

sent tv back and stuck with my toshiba 42c3030 with this you also have to run seperate sound, but in the sound options you can select which output you want the sound to be played with (in my case hdmi1).

so as far as im aware your best bet is to get the old manual out for your screen and read up on the sound options. sorry i cant be more helpful.

well your main problem is that a dvi cable doesnt support sound whatsoever!!
A DVI cable is a video cable only!!
If your monitor has a HDMI port use that with a HDMI cable.

well it doesn't have an hdmi port so what else can I do. Can I run USB speakers from my PS3?

this is what my friend did, I also did this for my 360. You have to run two cables though. The video one which would be the HDMI to DVI. Hook it up. Then run the standard cable that comes with the ps3. Then you get an adapter like this http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search and this http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search then hook it up to your computer speakers

You have to run two cables though. The video one which would be the HDMI to DVI. Hook it up. Then run the standard cable that comes with the ps3.
