Xbox 360 Pre-questions

hello, im having somewhat not really trouble with my xbox 360, but have a feeling i will be having troubles later on:

i just got a BRAND NEW xbox 360 by EB Games, and got live and everything, i've had it for 1 week now, but after a couple hours of a game, and i turn off the xbox 360, and there's a green bar at the top of the screen for like 48 miliseconds, and after, i played crackdown for 4 hours and i got a couple more bars again when i turned off the xbox 360, and also, when im playing crackdown, my xbox makes wierd noises like when your DVD drive is running hard and you can hear it, my xbox is making that sound now when i move around, but when im paused it stops.

i know i can just refund it, but just from any gamers experience know a way to stop this?

thanks

Re: Xbox 360 Pre-questions

When exactley do you receive this "green bar" and furthermore...does this only happen when playing crackdown on XBOX LIVE ???? If this is the case you can format the xbox cache which i can provide instructions for but this will mean all Data will be erased. If it does not resolve the issue try another game on xbox live and see if the same happens

Re: Xbox 360 Pre-questions

So this happens when playing crackdown even when not connected to xbox live ? If this is the case you may need to format the cache of the xbox which is fairly easy however you will loose all data and saved games. Also, does this happen when you play other games ?

Re: Xbox 360 Pre-questions

My first 360 ran the disks hard, sounded like it was chewing them, this sounds like the same problem too. I would take the machine back get a new one. there is a small chance that the 360 could damage the discs.
do you have your 360 stood up?

you should lay it down if not, as stood up 360's can also cause 'lazer burn' also if the drive dies from being stood up its a thing Mircosoft will not sort out under warranty

As for the green bar(s) Is it a thick-ish bar? what sort of TV do you have?

I also have come arcoss the same thing (possably) I don't think it's a thing to worry about (if its the same as mine, mine only pops up if i turn it off during an achievement or disconnecting a controler)

Re: Xbox 360 Pre-questions

9 times out of 10 its really not going to be the TV. But what kind of TV is it and what kind of xbox. Because I notice that the Pro's and the Arcades have a lot of problems when they get returned at my store. However the Elites don't have those kinds of problems. As for the disk running hard, that could lead to disks being scratched up, or it can lead to lines being burned into the CD which is why I don't recommend the system being standing.

Some helpful tips about keeping your xbox in good condition:
1) Make sure that if it is a new game, you don't run it into the ground. The disk can get over heated and then warp.
2) NEVER stand up the xbox, or if you do DON'T move it. Its been reported that if you do that lines get burned into the CD's.

Thats pretty much it. I mean I could add more, but I feel lazy. :P

Re: Xbox 360 Pre-questions

Well if its chewing the discs up while laying down take it back before it does any damage.
