Oblivion freezing during load

When I try to load one of my oblivion characters, the game freezes when the load bar is 3/4 of the way across. All of my other characters on the same profile work and I have tried a different disk. The save was made when i was casting an invisibilty spell which is known to freeze the character in place if they try to enter another cell if they are casting an invisibilty spell, but the autosave for the same character also freezes when i try to load it. What should I do?

Which system is this for?

Have you tried the data on a friends machine?
