Smoking X-box

Hey all, I've got an Xbox that had been softmod'd and I had been sitting there, trying to watch a movie on it. Screen kept coming up blank, so I thought it was just taking longer to load than normal... eventually I smelled something, and there was smoke billowing out from the back of my xbox. I unplugged it and put it outside and it seemed to stop. I haven't tried to use it since.

This is sort of off the top of my head, it happened before I left for school and I just sort of left it. I'm not looking to fix it myself, because I'm pretty sure it's hardware, I'm just looking for some ideas of what went wrong and how much it might cost to get it fixed. Thanks for any replies!

if your talking original xbox, your just better off replacing if you are going to do anything.

referb original xboxes are going for $50-60 around here.. even seen a few new ones left over in a few stores for like $100
