Re: Wireless router?
Is wired not an option? Wireless tends to have slightly higher latency which results in larger pings and lag.

Re: Wireless router?
I use a Belkin (sorry, don't have a model with me at the moment) which is about 2 years old. I don't game online though, so I can't comment on the performance with regards to that, but general browsing and downloading is very decent and the initial connection was a breeze.

Re: Wireless router?
I am by no means a router expert, but I can share my experienced with what I've got. Presently I'm using a TRENDnet tew-452BRP, and when it works... it works great. We've managed to set up 2 Macbooks, 1 Dell laptop, 1 Other kind of laptop (slipping my mind atm), and 3 Desktops. Then again, when the router doesn't work, it really doesn't work. Sometimes during my early-morning gamins sprees it'll decide it's had enough, and cut my internet. Normally the problems can be solved with a simple restart of the router, but it does get a little annoying.
The PS3 is a little finicky when it comes to what kind of passphrase (for lack of a better word) it'll take. We had to change over from WEP to WPA (it was bound to happen at some time). If you do pick up one like this, once you find some firmware that works, try and stick with it. There's been many times where new firmware on the router will retard any networking that you've worked so hard to establish. |
