HDMI audio issue on PS3. Can anyone help?
When I connect my PS3 to a HD TV using my HDMI cable, the audio is slightly off from the video. The audio seems to be a half-second behind the video. I know it's not the TV, because I've tried it on two different HD TV's, and it does the same thing. And I know it's not the cable, because it's a good cable, and it works with other things. If I connect my PS3 using a either a component cable or the standard composite cable, the audio and video are completely in sync. It's only when I use my HDMI cable that it's not in sync. Can someone give me some feedback that would be helpful?

Re: HDMI audio issue on PS3. Can anyone help?
Hi Killens84
Welcome to TSF. I don't think Sony quite nailed the audio part for the HDMI cable just yet. A lot of people have had issues with it, myself included. For my part, I didn't have a sync issue, but the audio level was VERY VERY low so I had to turn the volume up every time, and sometimes forgot to turn it down ... yeah. So now I just use an optical digital cable. I think what the issue with your connection is the difference between the HDMI cable and a normal composite cable. From what I can make out, you've got you PS3 connected to your TV and then your TV connected to a sound system. I think what's happening is that by the time your TV is outputting the sound for the vidoe which appeared 1/2 a second ago, it's already getting the video from now (hope this makes sense). Best option is to connect the PS3 via HDMI to the TV and then run a separate cable from the PS3 to your sound system. Now if there is no sound system in the question, then the story would be different. Either way however, I would recommend 2 different cables for video and sound for the best results.

Re: HDMI audio issue on PS3. Can anyone help?
Right now, I have my PS3's video signal going to the TV using an HDMI cable, and I have the audio going to the surround sound using an optical cable. It works perfect this way. BUT, I'm about to move my TV and PS3 into my bedroom, where I won't have surround sound. This is where I'm going to have a problem. Because when I have both video and audio signals going to just the TV, the audio coming through the TV speakers is slightly behind the video on the screen. And like I said, we have two different 32" HD TV's at my apartment, and it does this on both of them. My HDMI cable is made by Philips, which is a good brand, so that shouldn't be the problem. It's an HDMI 1.3 cable, which is the newest version. Both of the HD TV's are good, especially my new one. It's a brand new 32", made by LG. The specs on it are amazing, and it's an amazing TV. Anyway, I just wish I could pinpoint why the audio from the TV speakers is slightly behind the picture. And like I said, it does this on both of our HD TV's. Oh, but I forgot to mention... If I hook my PS3 up to my TV, using my component cable, the audio and video are perfectly in sync. But HDMI is a better picture, so I don't want to use my component cable.

I can only guess why the delay is there, as I did before. To solve you problem though, you can use the HDMI cable for video and the normal cables that came with the PS for audio. I did this when I first got mine and it worked fine.
