360 Internet Dis/ after xbox live sign in

On February 2-3, 2008 I have been having a networking issue with my xbox 360 console. I am subscriber to the xbox 360 live and I am in search of a resolution to my issue. Im only 15 so bare with me on this forum :P; Ok so im sitting at home on a sunday in my room and I look at the router(black box whatever?) and it shows I have good/great connection. So I think to myself hmm I think im gonna play some xbox live today! Ok, so I turn on my 360 no issues yet....as soon as it says XXXX signed in to xbox live..omg wtf!!!!!....I get disconnected. Ok so maybe this was a one time deal. I then shut off my xbox 360....once I did so the internet reboots??? ackward...so it turns off only when i sign into my 360? So I test this again, I turn on my 360 and sign into live and again wtf!!!!...I get disconnected. And this is about the time where the swearing comes in. So I think to myself third times the charm. I did it one last time and received the same results...."this is simply pissing me off". I would like to resolve this issue before I go into a comma from lack of xbox live(trust me it has happened before). I did a little research because my dad thought it might be a virus, but later i figure out that "SUPPOSEDLY" a 360 can not get a virus because it only registers signed software by the xbox 360 live company...ya whatever.....Like I said I need help this is a desperate need, I don't know what the world is coming too? Do you? Can you solve this issue? One more thing when you post a message on this forum refer to me as Ryan....Thats all thx.

And you running Live straight from the Router? what make is it?
Have you tried running the Connection test on your 360? See what that says.

I was having this issue as well. Turns out the firmware I had just put on my router was incompatible with Live. I just downgraded it and it's worked perfectly ever since.

its a lynxis router. and yes i have ran tests. it just is weird. and how do i down size the firewall?

Not the firewall, the firmware. Firmware is something that makes components inside a machine/electrical item function correctly. Its like 'software' but not the type that you can open and use (like Internet Explorer or Microsoft Word).

Most routers have the ability to update this essential software, but occasionally it causes more problems than is worth.

Does your Dad take care of this stuff usually? If so, ask him if he has updated the routers firmware recently. He may be able to restore the original setup. If this doesn't work, you may have to try a completely different router. Some just arent compatible with Live.

I found my Belkin G+MIMO router works perfect, I only paid £30 for it too.
