data loss on ps2 memory card

I was paying gran turismo 4 and i had a max memory 16gb memory card and it was nearly full up. so as i was saying i was playing gran turismo 4 and then i wanted to play another game which i had nearly completed, then it said on it do u want to create a new alias so i reset the ps2 to have a look at the memory card and everything except the gran turismo data had been completely wiped off!!! there was about 90 games worth of memory on there!!! can anyone tell me mabye how to reverse this?? plzzz plzzz plzzz help me i'm really upset.

Who made this card? Was it a licensed product?

yeah i got it from HMV its called a MAX memory 16gb

I googled around and found that this card is pretty problematic, even with the 32MB and 64MB models. The only found fix was to take it to a specialty store who could properly reformat it.

As a side note these cards are NOT officially supported by Sony.
