ps3 with ps2 controllers?

I just got a ps3 and the game rock band. It only came with one guitar controller. I already have a guitar controller for the ps2 game guitar hero 2. I was wondering if I could use the ps2 guitar controller on the ps3 with the game rock band. The sales people at walmart said that it was possible, but they never seem to know what they're doing.

It is possible (I think) but you'll need to find an adaptor

You basically want a device that takes a PS2 controller signal and converts it to a USB signal for use of your PS3.

Just copy/paste the name into Ebay or some cheap online store and buy the sucker you see fit.

I wouldn't trust Wal-Mart employees for crap when it comes to gaming. I once witnessed one of their sales associates telling a woman that Gameboy games wouldn't work at all with a Gameboy Color...

There are PS2->USB adapters available, Radio Shack carries them in their stores and online. They run about $10 new.
