Using wireless Gamecube control on Wii

Just bought a pair of 24GHz wireless Gamecube controlers by Mad Catz. I installed the batteries, plugged the wireless adaptor into the port on the Wii, turned on the controller and...nothing.
What am I missing?

On MadCatz controllers, there are channel numbers on the side of the plug in and the bottom of the controller, make sure those two match and it should work.
