Need to convince system admins...

Hello
I've just moved into University accommodation and Xbox Live runs terribly as I have a Strict NAT due to all the protection on the system. I emailed the administrators and this is what they said:

Quote:
We have been in contact with the administrators for the internet
service at St. Lars.

They will not open these ports because if people are playing games
online, the system will become overloaded and other users will not
be able to
access the internet service.
Now from all the years I've been gaming on both PCs and Xbox I have never ever experienced slowdown on my connection due to online gaming. The only thing that has slowed down my connection is file sharing, uploads and downloads etc.. So I'm here to ask 2 questions:

1. Does anyone have any facts and figures about how much an online game will 'use up' the internet connection in comparison with general browsing?

2. Is there anything you can recommend I tell or show these system admins to get them to realise that its not online gaming that slows the connection?

Of course if i'm horribly mistaken and for all these years gaming I HAVE been slowing the connection, then tell me that too. I just think that this is a copout answer and i really need to have my Xbox working properly :(

Thank you
