connecting 360 to live
today I bought a brand new xbox 360... mainly cause I wanted to be on Live... when I try to connect I get the whole deal with downloading the update... when I say yes it starts, but then stops and tells me to do a system connection check... when I do the test, I get the network adapter, the up address, and the DNS... but when it gets to the MTU is fails, even though I have my router set to 1500 MTU, and even when I fiddle with it to get that to work, I still cant connect, I get the same error...
I have an ethernet cable hooking it up to the router. How can I connect? or might I have better luck getting the wireless networking adapter? plz help.. I dont want to have spent $400 for nothing... |

Re: connecting 360 to live
Hi,
Welcome To TSF. This might help you (http://www.techsupportforum.com/gami...-countrys.html) If not please post back and give us details on what its failing on. (I know its for the BT Home Hub but it still should be the same on your router or DLS Modem) Thanks, |

Re: connecting 360 to live
thanks, but it didnt help... its funny, cause if I plugg my xbox directly into my modem.. it works fine, but it kills the internet for the rest of the house. I fail the MTU test even though my router is set above the minimum.

Re: connecting 360 to live
sorry for double posting, but I couldnt figure out how to edit my last post. my mother and myself figured it out, we opened router ports, disable router security, and disable the UPnP. now it works just fine

Re: connecting 360 to live
Thats good,
Just be aware that opening ports can lead to someone trying to hack in. |
