PS2 surround sound problems

I hooked my PS2 to my receiver with the optical cable, and I made sure the optical option was on. When I play games or movies, I just get stereo sound. No surround sound. Anyone else have this problem?

Most games only have 5.1 audio for movies. Is the PS2 using ONLY the optical for audio or are the RCA plugs also plugged in? Simply put, how are you connecting EVERYTHING involved?

I figured it out. I had to manually turn on Dolby Pro logic, DTS, ect. in the setup menu when you run a DVD.
