PS2 - Disc Tray & Silver Power Strip troubles

Well today has been one of those days where nothing goes right. I was playing a game and went to close the disc tray and I noticed it wouldn't close. So I open it up and noticed that the disc reader kept lifting up as the tray tried to close so it blocked it. Then in the midst of trying to fix that the silver power cable gets pulled out. ; . ;!!!

I dunno if i'm better off just buying a new PS2 or trying to fix this one. My dad is handy at fixing electronics if someone knows how to fix this. Please help me!

If anyone has a guide on how to fix the silver cable (now pulled out from the reset disc open console but from the side that's put into the console itself) and the disc tray I'd be eternally grateful. (Was in the middle of playing hack//mutation) ; . ;!!!

Yes, .hack is WIN!!

The ribbon just needs to be slipped back into place. If you're dad is good then this should be a no-brainer for him. The PS2 is a pretty simple machine in reality.
