PS2 Laser-ish help [RESOLVED]
OK, this is annoying me now, it seems the only problems people have with the laser is disc reading errors, mine is alot more simple, but alot more annoying
I took my PS2 apart, tried to put it back together again, but got a loud cranking sound ONLY when the actual gameplay starts, the rest was smooth as anything so i typed a few phrases into google and got disc read error tips, checked out my PS2 laser, everything seems fine, i played a game with the lid open and then i spotted the problem: the moving contraption holding the laser has a ribbon of wire comming out of it, each end of the ribbon has a hard plastic bit on it, when i play a game, the laser moves towards the other end of the ribbon, both ends hit eachother, and this stops the laser moving fully in the direction it wants to, thus making it jerk back & forth loudly casuing this noise and stopping the game from loading properly but, how would it have been positioned normally? the only thing i can do to help this is push the ribbon back inside the console, then everything works fine, but soon as i restart, the laser naturally moves back towards the other end and the laser ribbon pops back out and into the way of itself the first 2 pics are the laser in its normal position, the ribbon is visible, but not a problem, the 3rd is what happens when the laser moves away from the centre with the ribbon in its normal piosition, u can see the 2 hard plastic ends make contact and stop the laser from moving any further the last pic is the laser ribbon pushed back into the console, and the 5th, the laser as far as it will go with the ribbon inside the console ![]()
