Please insert Xbox 360 disk...

I'm afraid I have encountered a problem.

I have recently rented a game, Saints Row, and attempted to play it. It got up to the main screen and when I attempted to play a new game, the screen froze. Naturally, I restarted the console only to have a message appear telling me to "insert an xbox 360 game". Frustrated, I restarted again, removed the disk, and did every possible combination.

I did the memory cache thing, I restarted the console, I unplugged the console and nothing is working. I played a DVD which worked fine, but other 360 games refused to work also.

Please help me.

-Jeff

Re: Please insert Xbox 360 disk...

My 360 has had no updates.

And it isn't just SR, I've tried other 360 games and even an original Xbox game, but the same message popped up.

Okay. .......... I would now contact Microsoft about it. It could be a problem with the disk drive.

The Tech Support Forum isnt really good on Games Consoles.

You Can Try The Xbox forum or Games Forum

Re: Please insert Xbox 360 disk...

This can happen when the disc drive lens is dirty.

Hi,

Yea it can be a dirty lens. If you just get a lens cleaner disk. It dont have to be a certain one. for example i have got a ps2 lens cleaner and that works for my radio, pc, and xbox, I only payed £3 for it from a game store.

Nothing is working, and the disk is clean. It's been a week or so now, so I'm going to call up Micro.

Re: Please insert Xbox 360 disk...

When I called tech support they said the problem as with the lens. To fix this they gave me the instuctions on how to realign the lens. Disconect everything. Take off the face plate and underneath the disk tray there is two half circular holes on the left. I cannot recall which one it was but you insert a staightened paper clip about a half inch SRTAIGHT in it and push gently but firmly and your should feel the lens slide back about a quarter of an inch back. This should reset your lense position. Restart the system with just the faceplate on and shut it down. Then try to play a game. When that didnt work for me I had to send it in to be repaired, but it was free because of the one year warrenty but now its not working agian and the warrenty is up. So good luck!

Re: Please insert Xbox 360 disk...

Alright, I got the box from Microsoft last thursday and sent my 360 (Minus all the hardware and wires) to fedex.

Anyone know how long it took for them to get their 360 back?

Re: Please insert Xbox 360 disk...

It depends on your location. I am from New York and it ships to Texas. For me it was 5-6 weeks. Also, within two months it was broken again and my warrenty was void.
