PS2 on PC Monitor

Hey, I have a Samsung SyncMaster741MP LCD TV monitor and have successfully managed to play my PS2 on it using the AV slots. Unfortunately, the picture quality was kinda crappy... it was flickering and was simply unplayable in my opinion. I've heard that playing on LCD doesn't help the problem as the native resolution is too high. I was wondering if using S-Video would help the problem? If not, is there anything I can do?

You nailed it when you thought of native resolution. The PS2 output video at 640x400, well below the native resolution of most ANY LCD monitor out there. Unfortunately, this limitation means that it won't look better then what you're seeing now.

So there is nothing I can do? It's not a major problem because I have a TV in my room which I can play PS2 on fine. But I was playing Xbox 360 through VGA on my monitor and it looked much better so I just wanted to see if I could run PS2 on it. Apparently, VGA for PS2 is expensive and not compatible with all games.

There is a VGA kit out there, but it'll only work with a Linux development kit. Games wouldn't benefit from the potentially greater resolution. Sorry.

XBox 360 and PS3 are designed with HD in mind so they can scale as necessary.
