Serious PSP Problems

My Boyfriend, has a PSP that he only uses to listen to music and lately it's been acting strange and he needs your help. When he turns on his PSP, it will work properly for the first 5 minutes. Then after that it will get all glitchy and start malfunctioning. The battery would be fine too, all charged up. It just get's all glitchy and he doesn't know what's wrong with it.

The only way the PSP will work, is if he leaves the battery out for over a day and he puts it back, And it will work for only a few minutes. then it turns itself off.

After it turns off, he tried pushing the on switch, & it doesn't turn on automatically, but if he waits a minute, it turns itself on for a couple of seconds and turns itself off.

and for him to get it to work again, he needs to remove the battery and wait another day, then the same thing happens

he used a new battery, a different memory card and he updated the firmware to 3.10, and he STILL has the problem.

What now?

Might work.

But...

I think it could be the mainboard in it, I would reset the psp to its factory defaults

Settings>System Settings>Restore to Factory Defaults.

Note: This will not rollback firmware updates.
See if that works, if it doesnt try taking the battery out then try it with the power supply plugged in by either the USB or the Power Plug and see what its like just like. If that goes okay, then it could be the battery, or it could be the pins that connect the battery to the PSP, you should try cleaning it with compressed air or something like a hover to remove any dust that there is there.

Let us know what happen's
