Desperate plea for help to anyone who knows about wireless x-box gaming

I have been saving up for x-box online for my x-box 360 for months now and and have been waiting to get it for ages however I find myself problems that I have no idea how to solve so I ask you, here are the problems. I will be really grateful to you as I really want x-box live and I really have no clue as to what I'm doing.

1. I use Aol silver and Aol apparently doesn't do x-box live so which broadband providers do, and what quality broadband will I need to use xbox live without lag?

2. My tv and xbox are upstairs and my laptop and dsl connection is downstairs and there is no way in hell my parents are gonna let me trail a cable through the house so it's wireless networking for us, I assume I need a wirelless router, something to 'connect' the internet to my PC and something to 'connect' the wireless to the x-box 360. What else do I need, where can I get them, how much for and which ones do you reccomend?

If anyone can help then again thanks a million in advance.

Some of the major national providers such as Time Warner Cable and Comcast Communications offer support for XBox LIVE without a hitch. You'll want a service that provides at LEAST 1.5Mbps download speed and 384Kbps upload speed to have good online gaming. Naturally, faster speeds make this easier. I have a 7Mbps cable line from Time Warner Cable of San Antonio and I've never had any issues with pings or latency that were the fault of my ISP.

Microsoft sells a wireless USB dongle for the 360 system that retails for about $99. It's recommended that you go with this adapter because it's GUARANTEED to work with the 360 system. As for a wireless router I can recommend almost anything from D-Link or Linksys that's 802.11b or g.

Thanks but does Time Warner Cable and Comcast Communications work in britain? Also by dongle do you mean the thing that goes onto your 360 that receives wireless signals?

Ah, didn't realize we're talking about stuff in the UK. Big Pond is a large provider there, right?

The dongle is a small device that plugs into the USB ports on the 360.

No apparently big pond is for Australia, thanks anyway now I know what speed I need, I'll do my research on x-box's website but if anyone else has any other advice then there's a good chance that they'll know more about it than me so everything is welcome.

Pretty much any DSL provider other than AOL works fine. You'll need a 360 wireless adapter which is not cheap: $100 to be precise.
