[SOLVED] Unable to play certain games
Hey, a couple weeks ago my computer decided to stop letting me play certain video games on my computer, but instead of just having these certain games crash, my computer just shuts off, no BSOD or any sort of error message, just a complete shut down.
Note: The games I can't play anymore that are listed in the next block of text, most of them I was able to play previously and have put quite some time into them before the problem began.
To name a few of these, they would be Left for dead 2, Skyrim, Metro 2033, Dungeon Defenders, and Assassin's Creed Revelations.
Yet there are still games I can play, like Starcraft 2, Counter-Strike: Source, and League of Legends.
First I figured it might be some sort of wonky virus, so I did a few different scans with different antivirus, and nothing big ever came out of them. Then I thought this would possibly be my CPU overheating, but I checked the temperatures while playing these games and while not, and the temperature didn't change to anything alarming ever. Then I thought that it might possibly have something to do with my RAM, and I ended up purchasing new RAM chips and replaced my old ones, but the problem still persists after all this.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem? I think I might have some corrupted windows files that are miscommunicating with these games, but that seems very strange to happen to only a few games and not all, and even if I wanted to reformat I've misplaced my windows 7 CD (although I still have my CD key written down) so I can't even reformat to try to fix the problem.
Any input would be appreciated
