It's bugging me as the game (and others) all worked fine then stopped,
I had not installed anything else ! ! !
Honest
I have :
flattened the hard drive and reinstalled XP,
Updated the BIOS
got the latest direct x 9.0b (or which eva it is)
got the latest upgrade video drivers,
Ran a registry clean up tool called detonator
bought a new copy of the game
bought a different game
took the video card out and ran it on another machine (it was fine)
ran the game on another machine (fine)
ran the game on my m/c but with a different video card (didn't work)
phoned the HP help desk for an hour
phoned the game help desk twice for an hour each time
I have anti-virus softwared the m/c to bits.
I would buy a new m/c but this one is only 14 months old
PLEASE HELP

Have you tried updating your OpenGL client? I had a similar problem with Soldier of Fortune II a while back, my OpenGL kept crashing. I ended up having to search around the nVidia website for a while and downloaded the updated drive and the OpenGL patch that fixed it for me.
Here's a link to the OpenGL Installation FAQ.

Here's the link to the nVidia drivers, ipam45 - nVidia Drivers. Try downloading the latest driver for your video card and see if that helps at all.
