Dear Worren

thank you for your reply. With your answer I still have the problem, how can I get the ip-address without using a web-browser ?

What I wanna do is, to find out the external IP of my router over the command prompt.

So see it as a challenge to get to the result without the browser, if that is possible.

thank you again

Are you typing in ipconfig at the prompt? Or are you typing in winipcfg at the run button of WinXP?

You can not find your external IP address (if is your router IP) using the windows commands since it is not saved on your computer. You have to connect to the router, may be using telnet if you do not want to use the http.

Send a message via ICQ to V0lt
How about this-

telnet to a mailserver and just type "helo". It'll usually come back with your IP and domain name.
