Unable To display

When I access certain sites, which are secure and require full registration, like my former employers, I get an intermttent failure to display pages which are "searching" for details. This could be for details of hotels or flights, for example. I am authorised to use these sites as I retired from my company and still retain certain rights. No other type of internet pages suffer this problem and the sites with the problems are not connected to each other in any way but are seperate companies. Toshiba L300-1AS laptop with Vista and using IE8. I have attempted to adjust "compatibility View" without any impact.

Re: Unable To display

Are you working behind a proxy? If so, ask the two ITs if that's the problem.

Re: Unable To display

Hi Corday! As far as I can understand I am NOT working behind a proxy and the problem is on several sites, is intermittent and can sometimes be corrected by clicking the 'diagnose connection problem' button which appears. it is very frustrating as there is no pattern to the problem.
regards

Re: Unable To display

Rather then using it as a wireless, try plugging it in via an ethernet cable. If the problem still occurs it's your ISP. If not, it's a network situation.
