[SOLVED] IE7 error: "The RunAs Command is not supported"

Hi everyone,

I'm running vista sp1 with IE7, and I recently installed Google Chrome.

Now whenever I try to run IE it crashes with "The RunAs Command is not supported". I'm not trying to run under different credentials - this happens on a simple click on the shortcut, also with start/run/iexplore. I uninstalled chrome - the problem remains.

I can right-click and run as administrator - then it wants a confirmation to authorise the promotion. I normally use firefox, but my users want IE :4-dontkno

Should I try a system restore? Is there anything else I can investigate? Any help would be most appreciated.

Re: IE7 error: "The RunAs Command is not supported"

Here's a funny thing: A while after I uninstalled Chrome IE7 started working normally. I installed Chrome again, and the problem is back!

Yet even after uninstalling Chrome AGAIN, the problem remains.....

Nope, that doesn't help, but thanks for telling me about it.

The thing is, the problem went away all by itself just before I read your post. I installed Chrome and hey, presto :sigh: the problem is back! Uninstalled Chrome, the problem remains.

I'm betting it will disappear in a day or two. I'd like to be able to run Chrome without this happening! :upset::upset:

Any more ideas?

Thanks.

Re: IE7 error: "The RunAs Command is not supported"

No need, I've got it figured out now. When I set Google Chrome as default browser: "The RunAs Command is not supported". Set IE7 as default browser - via "default programs" and just like that the problem is fixed.:smooch:

That'll do me for a work-around. Has anyone else had this problem with running multiple browsers under vista?

Thanks, everyone, for your time.

We're happy you got it resolved. I only run FF in Vista although IE is installed you can only have one set as default. This may be an issue with Google Chrome since it is a newer browser than IE & FF
