Hi guys,
I hope you can help me with these two issues. A friend has asked me to look at her computer as she can't get pop-ups to work - by which I mean that if she goes on to a site which requires her to input further information via a pop-up window (say an airline booking site) the window just isn't there. I've checked and turned off the pop-up blocker, and even (shudder) tried taking the security levels down a bit as per another person's advice, but to no avail. (Turn off the pop-up blocker and it simply comes back turned on).
The other problem is that if I go into Internet Options, and click the Advanced Tab, there's no options - zilch, nada, nothing, just a blank window. I noticed in all of this if it makes any sense that if I click on the help button and then click About, there's no serial number, version or other info.
Any ideas would be welcome - I suppose I could take off SP3 and then uninstall IE8 and try a re-install, but I'd really like to understand the problem before I start applying the "sledge hammer" approach.
Regards
