IE8 Temp files/cookies won't delete

I followed the usual steps to delete temporary files and cookies (IE8, in therory, provides more choices) but none of the temp files or cookies deleted. Any suggestions?

there is a way to delete the temporary internet files permanently on the startup itself.

go to start-> run->regedit
then navigate to
Hkey_local_machine\Software\ Microsoft\Windows\Current versin\Internet settings\Cache
on the right pane go to Persistant and set the value date to 0 in hexadecimal
(when u assign the value to 0 the cache(temporary internet files will be deleted )

then finally reboot the pc
